Paying For Leads

Though I've been in the invitation business for many years, it's only been the last four years that I've had a website and begun advertising on the web. Thinking it would help, I signed up with two separate "wedding lead" purchasing sites. I gave myself a limit of $100 on each site just to get going. I figured if all went well I would up my limit. I purchased every lead that was within my area of expertise. But I exhausted my funds on both sites and never got a single response. I'm now figuring this is just a scam but I'm interested in hearing what anyone else thinks. Is there anyone who has had success at lead-purchases? Did I actually fail because of my products?

I tried it once and never had any results from it so that wont be something that I will do again.

I have thought about it but how was I to know how many other people are buying leads? I figured it was some sort of scam so I pased on it.

I was considering it but have not done it as of yet and now I am not so sure I will. It is tough trying to get business. The only thing I do now is advertise on any free websites that I can and every now and then I put flyers in mailboxes and on cars because I don't know what else to do. I don't have a real client base being so new.
