Lavanda Michelle Coats developed her passion for planning parties when she planned her “Sweet Sixteen” birthday party over 14 years ago, in Chicago, Illinois. After the parties guest and their parents were amazed at the decor and asked for her assistant planning their party. Her career continued during college life at Northern Illinois University. She served on many students bodies were she planned fundraisers and meetings. Her practice with Ken and Barbie paid off when she was given the task of planning her best friend wedding at the age of 21. Which was a huge success and gave her the opportunity to developed strong relationships with the local vendors. After coordinating dozens of ceremonies she saw the need for an independent company in Northern Illinois to provide not just the "day of" ceremony coordination, but also assist individuals with planning their wedding and/or event from beginning to end. Her vision came to fruition in February 2008 with the beginning of Elite Events Wedding and Event Planning. Now conveniently located in Rockford, provides a serene and comfortable atmosphere where you can visit in various locations including your home or business for a consultation, work with coordinators to determine your budget, create your theme, and learn about the different vendors in Northern Illinois.
The goal of Elite Events is to enable you to have the opportunity for a unique and fulfilling event planning experience, so you can appreciate the perfect and lovely event you only dreamed of having, without the stresses that can arise from having to plan it all on your own. Since opening, we've booked dozens of special and corporate events for the 2008 season and have already begun planning for brides with wedding dates in 2008 and 2009! The conception of Elite Events

When I was 13 I saw this quote "Choose a job you love and you will never work a day in your life! - Confucius," and it changed my life. A week later I went to work with my sister and saw the most beautiful wedding. I was on a mission I used everything I could find to plan a wedding for Ken & Barbie. I got in trouble for taking the best flowers from my mom vast; nothing was to good my client. That’s when my crush with event coordination started. I asked him out at 16 and it was the sweetest date ever. Event planning is my first love! Our courtship lasted seventeen great years and we just got married (for better or worst). We’re expecting our first child Elite Events.
