Calligraphy by Rachel Snyder/Elegant Touch Invitations

I have always been obsessed with pens and paper from the time I could hold a pen! (at least that is what my mom told me) and since I can remember, I was in Xenia, OH when I first saw a calligraphy pen, my aunt was addressing her Christmas Cards with a calligraphy marker, and needless to say I was AMAZED, she showed me how to hold it, gave me a marker of my own, and I have been doing calligraphy since that night. I was in the 9th grade when I did my first real "job" I actually designed business cards for a tree service in VA. I later that same year got my first "Wedding" job, addressing invitations for a Bride, at that time I only knew how to do Italic writing. Several years ago I started wanting to do copperplate writing. I could look at the letters and easily do the writing with a pencil. I practiced ALOT I then had the opportunity to meet with Chief White House Calligrapher, Pat Blair in Northern VA and she spent 3 hours with me, showing me different things to improve what had already came naturally to me. I have been blessed with an amazing gift. I enjoy making things on paper beautiful. SO EVERYONE KNOWS I LOVE INVITATIONS AND DIFFERENT ENVELOPES SO DON'T BE SHOCKED IF I PURCHASE DIFFERENT KINDS FROM ALL OF YOU INVITATION VENDORS FROM TIME TO TIME.
I like to try out different brands, colors, papers, etc. to find out which ones are best for handwritten calligraphy so I can head my clients towards what they want AND what I KNOW will work.
